We will be present at the 24th Mestre Mateo Awards with a total of seven finalist nominations, in an edition that once again confirms the strong moment of Galician audiovisual production. The announcement took place at the O Vello Cárcere cultural centre in Lugo, during an event in which the hosts of the gala were also revealed.

In the Best Documentary category, To the Rhythm of the New Regueifa is among the finalists. Directed by Saúl Rivas and Manolo Maseda, the film explores the present-day practice of oral improvisation in Galicia, focusing both on the people who have kept this tradition alive and on the new generations that are transforming and expanding it.

Children’s animation holds a prominent place among the nominations. Bibopalula receives two nominations: Best Television Series and Best Original Music, consolidating the trajectory of a pioneering project that combines music, storytelling and Galician-language animation, and has become a benchmark in children’s content produced in the country.

In the Best Web Series category, Undodez has a double presence thanks to Bechos and Pipo. Two animated series that share a commitment to a language accessible to young audiences, combining imagination, humour and values such as friendship, curiosity and respect for the environment.

The Best Advertising Spot category is completed by two finalist productions: Ao noroeste do oeste, created for the tourism promotion of the city of A Coruña, and Historia que nos impulsa, produced to mark the 25th anniversary of Deportivo de La Coruña’s league title. Two pieces that connect identity, memory and audiovisual storytelling from very different perspectives.

These seven nominations come in a particularly competitive edition of the Mestre Mateo Awards, with more than 180 productions submitted. The awards ceremony will take place on 21 March in Lugo, bringing together the Galician audiovisual sector in one of its most significant annual events.
