Galician audiovisual production is once again experiencing a record-breaking edition of the Mestre Mateo Awards. In its 24th edition, the Galician Academy of Audiovisual Arts registered 186 submitted productions and an all-time high of 565 participating professionals. Until Wednesday 28 January, academy members will vote to select the final nominees in a first round of voting. The awards ceremony will take place on 21 March in Lugo.
From Undodez, we are taking part in this edition with seven nominated projects that showcase the diversity of our work and our commitment to audiovisual creation made in Galicia, in the Galician language, and with both local and international reach.
In the documentary category, To the Rhythm of the New Regueifa presents an audiovisual journey through the present-day practice of oral improvisation in Galicia. Directed by Saúl Rivas and Manolo Maseda, the film travels across the country to explore the links between traditional regueifa and its contemporary expressions, focusing on the people who keep this popular art alive and constantly evolving.
Animation plays a key role among our entries. Bibopalula competes in the television series category with episodes 21 to 55 of a groundbreaking children’s production in Galician. Created by Laura Mahía and Andrés Mahía, the series continues its international expansion, both through distribution and music, consolidating itself as a reference project that already received the Deleite Award for language promotion.
Also in the web series category is the second season of Bechos, an animated series produced by Undodez for Televisión de Galicia. Through the adventures of Xurxo, Xiana, Catuxa and Margarida, Bechos promotes values such as respect for nature, friendship and coexistence, reinforcing a commitment to high-quality content for young audiences in the Galician language.
Completing the web series category is Pipo, a new animated proposal that premiered in August 2025. It follows a girl (Berta) and a small alien (Pipo) who turns everyday life into a space of discovery and adventure. The series blends humour, learning and imagination, addressing early-age audiences with a curious and accessible storytelling approach.
In the music category, under music video, we present Añobres by the band Alana. Directed by Saúl Rivas and Adolfo Fernández, the video pays tribute to Delfina de Añobres and to Galician oral tradition, connecting memory, territory and contemporary creation through music and image.
Alongside these, two advertising productions are also in competition: Ao noroeste do oeste, created for A Coruña City Council and its tourism promotion at FITUR 2025, and Historia Que Nos Impulsa, a spot produced to mark the 25th anniversary of Deportivo de La Coruña’s league title.
These entries complete Undodez’s participation in this year’s Mestre Mateo Awards, reflecting the breadth and variety of projects we develop daily.
The second voting round will take place once the finalists are announced, and the winners will be revealed on 21 March at the 24th Mestre Mateo Awards gala, once again turning Lugo into the epicentre of Galician audiovisual culture.
