A family of five is shaken by the death of a woman, mother, wife, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law… A situation that destabilises the family unit. A twelve-year-old girl takes on all the responsibility.
That girl is Antía Touriñán, the protagonist of Nena. This is the first work by Xosé A. Touriñán behind the camera, as director and screenwriter of a short film that premiered in Castelo (Culleredo) in August 2023, and was shot a year earlier in Mondoñedo. AGalega, Televisión de Galicia’s digital content platform, has now made it available to the public this week.
Carlos Blanco and David Perdomo star alongside Touriñán himself and Antía, with Sergio Zearreta, Andrés Mahía, Noemi Rodríguez and Patricia Castrillón also appearing. Pedro Tizón and Tania Villaga are the director of photography and art director of Nena, which also features an original song by Belém Tajes.
Co-directed by Touriñán and Jairo Iglesias, Nena has received nearly twenty awards at national and international festivals since its premiere just over a year ago, as well as more than fifty selections.
