In less than a week, Galicia’s youngest audiences will have access to a completely new audiovisual experience. Bibopalula is the first musical animated series in the Galician language, produced by us together with Televisión de Galicia, and it will premiere on xabarin.gal and through the Xabarín mobile app.
Created by Laura Mahía and Andrés Mahía, the series consists of 55 five-minute episodes in its first season. The protagonists of Bibopalula are Robin the robin, Merli the blackbird, Pegui the magpie and Carpin the woodpecker — together they form the Forest Band. Alongside them, the other birds living in the forest bring small stories and lessons to each episode. Melania Cruz, Marta Lado, Iria Lamas, Marita Martínez and Xosé A. Touriñán are among the Galician actors lending their voices to the main characters and the rest of the forest inhabitants.
The cycles of nature — from the arrival of winter to the return of the swallows — guide and shape the adventures in this series, where music plays a central role: every episode ends with the Forest Band performing a song inspired by the protagonists’ adventures. All the original songs featured in the series were composed by Santi Jul and Iván Laxe.

Music is the defining element of ‘Bibopalula’.
A groundbreaking production
For the first time, children aged 3 to 6 will have access to an audiovisual musical production in the Galician language, created entirely by Galician professionals and companies. This commitment by Undodez reflects the production company’s dedication to creating content in Galician and from Galicia. The Xabarín app — available on iOS, Android and different Smart TV platforms — together with xabarin.gal, will premiere the series next Friday, 29 November, with the launch of the first twenty episodes.
Bibopalula is produced with the participation of Televisión de Galicia and with the support of the Xunta de Galicia through the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries. The regional public broadcaster will exclusively premiere the series on its children’s digital content platform before it travels to other territories and languages through different broadcasters.

The cycles of nature are deeply present in the storylines of ‘Bibopalula’
Beginning its journey into homes across Galicia
During the weekend of 29 November, Bibopalula will have its own stand at Culturgal, once again taking place in Pontevedra. There, the series will be introduced to visitors and audiences, and an open presentation for families will be held on Sunday 1 December.
With the aim of introducing Bibopalula to audiences, throughout December we will carry out an extensive campaign including the publication of a storybook, the launch of the series’ mobile app, and additional content on YouTube and major music streaming platforms. Starting in January, an educational unit focusing on topics such as nature care and music will also be released, complemented by visits from the characters to different schools.
