The influence of traditional sounds and rhythms on contemporary bands is the programme’s guiding thread.

AGalega, Televisión de Galicia’s digital content platform, premieres this Thursday, 10 October, Recollendo Músicas, a new format that explores the influence of traditional sounds and rhythms on contemporary music. Designed with a platform-first visual style and approach, Recollendo Músicas seeks to uncover the impact that our traditional music has on the rhythms, sounds and production of today’s artists and bands.

Galician music is currently enjoying a moment of strong popularity, with many artists and groups updating or incorporating rhythms, sounds and samples from traditional melodies and folk songs into their work. Recollendo Músicas explores this phenomenon through the voices of its own protagonists.

Across ten episodes, the format offers a personal perspective from artists on our folk-rooted music, building an overall picture that helps us better understand the strong creative and audience-driven moment that Galician music is experiencing.

To approach our music from a contemporary perspective

Recollendo Músicas is an exploration of the influence that Galician traditional music and rhythms have on contemporary sounds. We discover different projects from artists and groups who keep tradition alive through new languages and modern sonorities.

The first featured guests are singer Belém Tajes and Comando Curuxás. The premiere takes place on Thursday 10 October, with two new episodes released each week. Alana, Nebra, Breo, Lontreira, Moura, Abril, Carme López and Carabela are the featured artists of this first season. All episodes will be freely available on the AGalega platform, accessible on Smart TVs, Android, iOS and the web.
