Life in Gloria, a small village at the foot of the French Way of St James, is turned upside down when Pati, a high-powered executive in the midst of an existential crisis, decides to radically change her life by settling there. Her goal is to turn her grandparents’ old house into a hospitality business for pilgrims seeking inner balance and spiritual growth. To make her dream come true, she relies on Bertín, her best friend and an internationally renowned strict vegan chef.
A Gloria de Arriba has always been the magical place of her childhood summers, where nature and the slow pace of rural life gave meaning to existence. Now Pati wants to recover those sensations and share them with all travellers looking for rest in her idyllic oasis of peace. But she will soon discover that warm summer days do not last all year, that pilgrims’ spiritual journeys are not always very spiritual, that Bertín is strict about more than just veganism, and above all, that living with the wise and unhurried people of the countryside is more stressful than the competitive business world she has just left behind.
The hell Pati finds in A Gloria has many faces and names: nosy women who want to know everything, regulars at the local tavern who claim to know everything, an scheming opportunistic couple -Paca and Waldo-, a grumpy supposedly disabled old man, and above all Lolo, a rough and unruly man who drives her crazy in every sense, for better and for worse, for her misfortune and her happiness.
Na Gloria is an original project by Xosé Antonio Touriñán, Andrés Mahía and Xosé Castro. The series, a blend of costumbrista and surreal humour, consists of 15-minute episodes and is aimed at a family audience. It targets viewers aged 30 to 40 who consume fiction on OTT platforms, while still retaining elements and references that made similar shows successful on traditional television.
Directed by Andrés Mahía and produced by Jairo Iglesias, the series was filmed in natural locations. Na Gloria stars Cristina Castaño, Xosé A. Touriñán, Lucía Veiga, David Perdomo and Dani Rovira. It is designed for on-demand viewing and will premiere in early February on Televisión de Galicia’s newly launched OTT channel, A Galega.
