A year of creation, recognition and new paths: Undodez in 2025

2025 comes to a close as a meaningful year for Undodez. A period in which processes, continuity across projects and the care of our relationship with audiences have shaped the way we understand and produce culture.

At Undodez, we have long worked from a simple but demanding idea: culture is built over time. Not only through visible results, but also through processes, everyday decisions, and the way we relate to people and to the territory.

From fiction to animation, documentary, children’s content and cultural outreach, Undodez has experienced twelve months marked by premieres, awards, international exposure and the development of new projects that outline the company’s immediate future. Our work has continued to grow through continuity, becoming part of programming schedules, educational contexts and diverse cultural spaces.

A year of awards and recognition

One of the key milestones of 2025 came in March, when Recollendo Músicas received the Mestre Mateo Award for Best Programme. Directed by Saúl Rivas and Borja Casal, the format explores the influence of traditional Galician music and oral heritage on contemporary musical creation, highlighting artists and ensembles that keep this legacy alive through modern languages. The award represented an important recognition for a team that understands culture as a space for listening, respect and collective learning.

That was not the only recognition: Bibopalula, the first Galician-language musical animation series, received the Deleite Award for language promotion from the Galician Academy of Audiovisual Arts within the Mestre Mateo Awards, highlighting its commitment to high-quality content for early childhood audiences in our language.

Throughout the year, Undodez projects were also nominated in events such as the Mestre Mateo Awards, the AGalega.gal Awards, and international festivals like the Celtic Media Festival, where Na Gloria and Recollendo Músicas were finalists.

Premieres that shaped the year

2025 was marked by several important premieres. One of the highlights was the debut of To the Rhythm of the New Regueifa at Culturgal. The documentary offers a journey through contemporary regueifa, building bridges between tradition and modernity through the voices of performers who are redefining this Galician oral improvisation art. A project that celebrates words, music and community as living and evolving spaces.

In the field of children’s and family content, Pipo premiered at the Castelo Conta 2025 festival and later arrived on Xabarin.gal. The series follows Berta and a small alien who unexpectedly enters her life, turning everyday routines into adventures full of humour, warmth and discovery.

Bechos also returned strongly, releasing ten new episodes available on Xabarin.gal, consolidating its position as one of the leading Galician-produced animation series for early childhood audiences.

Bibopalula: an expanding universe

If there was one particularly prolific project this year, it was Bibopalula. In addition to new episodes on Xabarin.gal, the Band of the Forest expanded internationally through the global distribution of its music with Animotion Media and the series distribution via Digitoonz Spain.

The Bibopalula universe also extended beyond the screen: participation in the Three Kings Parade, the release of the Christmas song No one sings badly at Christmas, the development of the project’s app, and attendance at international markets such as Kidscreen Summit in San Diego, where Undodez was the only Galician company present in the Spanish delegation.

Nena: an unstoppable journey

Another major highlight of the year was Nena. The short film, written and co-directed by Xosé A. Touriñán and Jairo Iglesias, continued its remarkable festival run throughout 2025, reaching more than fifty selections and over twenty awards. Its release on AGalega also brought the film to a wider audience, consolidating its position as one of the most outstanding Galician short films in recent years.

Presence in markets and new projects

2025 was also a year of strong presence in festivals and professional markets: Kidscreen Summit (San Diego), Series Mania Forum (Lille), Cartoon Forum (Toulouse), Carballo Interplay and Castelo Conta, among others. Key spaces for sharing projects, building partnerships and continuing to place Galician audiovisual creation on the international map.

At the same time, development continued on new projects such as Lola, Pig & Paco, an adult animation series presented at Cartoon Forum; Mulleres que contan and Mulleres en rede, expanding the company’s work across fiction, animation and social documentary.

Looking ahead

With more than a decade of experience, Undodez closes 2025 reaffirming a way of working rooted in care for processes, innovation, and a commitment to Galician culture and language. A year of intense creation, meaningful recognition and new paths that point towards a future in which we continue telling stories we believe in, always alongside creators, technical teams, cultural institutions that trust our work and, above all, the audiences who accompany each project.
